KRATA expands presence in organic pigments and acrylic dispersions market

Pigment is a Russian chemical manufacturer and is a regular participant in Interlakokraska. Every year, the company demonstrates new products in the line of raw materials for the production of paints and coatings, such as organic pigments, binders for aqueous and organic soluble paints and coatings, drying agents, as well as finished paint and coating products under the KRATA trademark.

The company celebrated its 75th anniversary last year. Pigment met this important date with no less solid achievement. The company pays a great deal of attention to the development of products for the paint and coatings industry. Additional capacities are launched at the enterprise, and new brands and whole series of products are developed. It is quite enough to say that Pigment is the only Russian enterprise that produces organic pigments.

At Interlakokraska 2025, the company traditionally demonstrated its package of products for the industry and took an active part in the conference programme. Deputy General Director Oleg Podobryansky delivered a report on March 18 at the Panel on the Portfolio Synergy of Raw Materials on the EAEU Market of Paints and Coatings on the issue of raw material supply to the EAEU market of paints and coatings with Pigment’s products. In his report, he spoke about opportunities to expand the presence of Russian manufacturers in the EAEU markets. However, enterprises need government support, which will help increase the competitiveness of domestic products. At the Panel on Paints and Coatings for Decorative and Construction Purposes: Relevant Issues held on March 19, Podobryansky called for healthy protectionism in relation to domestic producers. The issue is relevant for organic pigments, which are currently imported duty-free, and raw materials for their production are subject to duties.

Active discussions with customers, suppliers and partners took place at the company’s stand throughout the exhibition. For example, the company presented its latest Akradisp line of acrylic binders for the printing industry. The specialists of the enterprise also demonstrated semi-finished alkyd-styrene varnish. This binder is intended for the production of quick-drying resistant to water and weak chemical solutions paintwork materials (primer-enamels and primers for industrial use on metal surfaces), as well as for enamels with a decorative hammer pattern.

According to Senior Manager at the Pigment Marketing Department Anna Murugova, “the company annually presents a wide range of products for the paint and coating industry at the exhibition, and first of all these are pigments, dispersions, semi-finished varnishes and resins, drying agents, and paints and coatings for industrial and construction purposes.”

“Currently, the company is working on expanding the range of acrylic dispersions. Now we are developing three new grades of binder for WD paints such as pure acrylic dispersion with a minimum film formation temperature at 20-25 degrees, styrene-acrylic dispersion with an elastic film for the production of special paints, and dispersion for anticorrosive coatings,” she added.

- What are the targets of the company for the coming season?

- Since the forecast for the development of the paint and coating industry is rather tempered, our main mission will be to maintain our position in the market and supplement our product range with products that will be in demand on the market.

In pigment production, we are focused on improving the efficiency of our production processes. For instance, we are working to reduce water consumption and decrease the amount of drains. This means using equipment that is more efficient and determining the optimum washing regime and automating this crucial step.

This way, we position our company as an environmentally responsible company.
