Post Show Report Interlakokraska 2022
The 26th edition of the International Exhibition for Paints and Coatings, Interlakokraska 2022, took place at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds on 1–4 March 2022. It is a unique show with a long history, which showcases the entire rage of paints, coatings, raw materials, equipment and technologies for their production and acts as an essential communication platform for market players.
The products and services covered by the 2022 edition were so diverse that any professional visitor could find here what they were looking for and solve their business tasks.

Show highlights
The group stand of Leningrad oblast showed products of six companies: the Industry Development Center of the Leningrad Region, Anti-corrosion Protective Coatings SPb, Attika, Lakovar, Primatek, and Aqualit TM-Synthesis. The companies presented a wide range of raw materials for coatings, as well as various types of anti-corrosion, fireproofing and waterproofing compositions, chemically resistant coatings and other special purpose materials.

The show’s relevance to the industry was once again confirmed by the number and quality of exhibitors and visitors. The total number of visitors was in line with the pre-pandemic figures of 2019. The main topics of discussions were the issues of diversification of raw material supplies, reorientation to Asian markets, and cooperation between Russian companies to counteract external instability.
The Employment Centre provided information about current job offers of exhibiting companies, posted CVs, and offered professional career development consultations.
Conference programme
The show’s busy conference programme featured more than 15 events, which covered the raw material supply for the paint and coating industry, the development of the standardisation system for paints and coatings, the promotion of paints with special properties in the Russian market, governmental support for the industry, and other relevant issues.
The International Coatings Forum 2022, a traditional professional meeting platform for the exhibitors and visitors to Interlakokraska, generated a lot of interest among the industry’s executives and specialists. The event was organised by the Russian Coatings Journal and EXPOCENTRE AO.
CEO at Paint-Media OOO and Chief Editor at the Russian Coatings Journal Olga Andrutskaya had a report on the paint and coating market in 2021 and its development prospects for 2022.
During the discussions, leading industry experts introduced advanced innovative solutions for the paint and coating industry to technicians, managers and executives. These solutions are made to improve properties of different paints and coatings, and to ensure that formulations are cost-effective without compromising on quality. The presentations attracted a large number of industry professionals.
The 2nd Conference on Innovations in Anti-corrosion Coatings and Surface Treatment, organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, attracted the attention of a large number of industry professionals. The participants exchanged information on the use of innovative anti-corrosion additives for coatings, promising protective compositions, and advanced surface treatment technologies.
EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with the Centrlack Association and the Chem-Courier Information Agency organised the Panel on the Paint and Coating Industry: Issues of Raw Material Supply, devoted to prices for raw materials and ensuring continuity of supplies.
The panel was moderated by Valery Abramov, General Director at Russian Coatings Corp and board member at the Centrlack Association. According to him, the market is currently in a fiercely competitive environment in which the cost of production is of paramount importance. The cost of raw materials is therefore extremely important in today. The panel participants discussed the possibilities of regulating raw material prices, the results and prospects of import substitution and the purchase of raw materials abroad. Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and executives of the following exhibiting companies took part in the discussion: CEO at Akrilan OOO Oleg Kuzin, General Manager at Allnex Belgorod OOO Peter Dyer, CEO at Holliday Pigments OOO Aleksey Demenyuk, and Deputy CEO at Krata Managing Company (Pigment PAO, Tambov) Oleg Podobryansky.
One more important event was the Panel on the Current Problems of the Paint and Coating Industry in Russia and Ways of Solving Them, organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with NIITEKHIM OAO.
Galina Zhigareva, Head at the NIITEKHIM Department for Market and Development of the Chemical Industry and Gas Processing Products, spoke about the state of the paint and coating industry in Russia in 2019–2021 and her forecast for the development of the paint and coating market until 2024. Gennady Averyanov, Director at the Centrlack Association, talked about the problems of statistical accounting of paints and coatings.
The panel participants discussed tariff and customs regulation of the paint coating market, development of production of key raw materials for the industry, state support measures for manufacturers and consumers of coatings and other important issues. The panel was attended by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the Industry Development Fund, and different enterprises.
The Panel on the Current Issues of Standardisation in the Paint and Coating Industry was devoted to the results of the work of Technical Committees 195 on Materials and Coatings and 144 on Construction Materials and Products, the prospects for their interaction in terms of improving standards for coatings for construction, and improvement of the regulatory and technical framework to improve the competitiveness of Russian-made products.
A number of interesting events were held by exhibiting companies. The Workshop on the Advanced Laboratory Equipment. New Products and Trends for Paint and Coating Laboratory Facilities and Equipment was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with Tecsa Group. Representatives of RoboTint spoke about three trends that create an opportunity for 25–40% growth in online paint sales.
The recent trend of Interlakokraska is dry building mixes. It was discussed during the Workshop on Dry Building Mixes: Market, Innovations, Raw Materials organised by EXPOCENTRE AO. Representatives of the exhibiting companies Larchfield, Homa, and Manaseer Industrial Complex (Spec-Trade LLC) spoke about ready-to-use building mixes and innovative additives for their production.
EXPOCENTRE AO and in partnership with the Association of Exporters and Importers organised the Master Class on the Export of Innovative Coatings, and the Discussion about the Specifics of Foreign Trade in Paints and Coatings.
A closed-door meeting of the Centrlack Association of Manufacturers, Suppliers and Consumers of Coatings and Paint Raw Materials took place to summarise the results of the paint and coating industry in 2021.
The Consultation Session on the Register of Russian Industrial Products: How to Get on the Register and What For? was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with Soyuzexpertiza ANO of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The experts explained in detail what steps a company had to take in order to be included in the Register of Russian Industrial Products and thereby obtain the opportunity to participate in state and municipal procurements. A free consulting center was available for the exhibitors.
The conference programme was concluded with the Workshop on Equipment for Production Facilities. How to Choose the Best One? Representatives and executives of the exhibiting companies (Cwet, Tecsa Himmash, MVS Mechatronics, and Technohim Engineering Center) showed the audience Russian-made equipment for chemical and paint production facilities, which meets modern requirements for efficiency, safety and environmental friendliness, and can compete with foreign counterparts. A presentation made by Bato Dabaev, Head of Dabaev & Partners law firm, on the legal aspects of the purchase and sale of production equipment also attracted a lot of attention.
